BioShock Infinite is an action FPS game which is a continuation of the Bioshock series from a different point of view, reaching out from the depths of Rapture to Columbia, an artificial air-city in the sky. Join Booker DeWitt in his adventure for rescuing Elizabeth, a mysterious girl that is kept locked in Columbia and guarded by a winged goliath, the Songbird.
The graphical aspect of this new release is absolutely charming. Elizabeth’s model has been taken very seriously,
affected by some remodels since the project started, by finally taking a more realistic girl that have spent all her life imprisoned. The effects and the different stages are pretty detailed, in order to give you a strong feeling of immersion that almost makes you to want to be there for the rest of your life, if it were not for the prophet’s army which happens to want you dead at all costs.
Surviving in Columbia
Just like in a film, you arrive to Columbia in a way that really reminds us the first title of the series. Brought to a lighthouse in the middle of the sea, you start your adventure in the prosperous air-city, looking for Elizabeth in order to bring her back to pay an old debt. This utopian city has its light and dark sides. The first positive impression you have is that it is really paradise in the air, but some groups are raging against the established government of the Founders. The mission seems easy at first, but the Prophet’s armies will chase you, led by a steampunk warden, the mighty Songbird. Moreover, in BioShock Infinite you will find that you carry the mark of the false shepherd, and you will become a public enemy for the people, making your objective even harder.
This new release brings you familiar elements with different names. Good old Plasmids are now known as Vigors, and the EVE is now Salt. You will find some new powers using the Vigors. For instance, you will be free to release murders of crows; devastating flocks of mad birds which will aim for your foe’s eyes. These new Vigors are devastatingly powerful, but don’t worry, the classics are still the same. You will be able to hurl fireballs and unleash lighting from your fingertips. One new thing we should highlight is the Skyhook. Forget about trains and cars, the skyhook is the ultimate means of transportation. You can use the Sky-lines to move around while you shoot people or even funnier, you can land on someone and smash the poor guy with the weight of justice.
In BioShock Infinite there is also new gear for you to become more powerful. You can get new shirts, hats, boots and pants which will give you different powers. Remember the guy you killed by landing over his head? Now you can scorch his nearby friends with your Fire Bird pants. You can also reload faster or even get health back for every melée hit.
